The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) Proficiency Testing Programs are accredited to ISO/IEC 17043 under accreditation number PTS0006. Recognized as a centre of excellence in laboratory and blood banking proficiency testing for transfusion medicine, the program supports quality and competence across the African continent.

All PT activities are coordinated and administered within SANBS, with a strong focus on efficiency, quality, affordability, and reliable service delivery. SANBS is a registered non-profit company operating on a cost recovery model.

Voluntary Suspension Notice:

The PT Program has been placed under voluntary suspension due to the relocation of the laboratories.

During this voluntary suspension, all internal processes and program activities continue, ensuring readiness for full reinstatement of accreditation once the relocation is complete and compliance can be confirmed.
